16. Safety outcomes for detainees are supported by effective leadership and management.
The following indicators describe evidence that may show this expectation being met. They do not exclude other ways of achieving it.
- Managers ensure that families are held in an environment in which they feel safe and that any anxieties they have are addressed.
- Managers from all organisations and agencies working with detainees pay close personal attention to meeting the needs of children and any other detainees with vulnerabilities.
- Managers at all levels allocate sufficient resources to provide a safe environment for families.
- Home Office managers ensure swift and efficient case progression and that detainees are kept informed.
- Managers make effective use of data to identify and minimise families’ anxieties and any risks to the safety of detainees and staff.
- Managers from all organisations work in partnership to promote a multidisciplinary approach to care for detainees with vulnerabilities.
- Managers ensure that security arrangements are effective and proportionate.
