Her Majesty’s Crown Prosecution Service Inspectorate inspects the Crown Prosecution Service and the Serious Fraud Office. It provides independently assessed evidence to help drive improvement and build public confidence in the prosecution process.
COVID-19 update
A statement from Kevin McGinty, HM Chief Inspector of Crown Prosecution Service:
In following the latest government guidance on social distancing and recognising the pressures on those we inspect, HM Crown Prosecution Service Inspectorate has altered the way in which inspection is carried out. Much of the inspection work we do involves my inspectors reviewing digital files through access to the CPS case management system and this work continues. We have suspended all site visits to the CPS and SFO and all interviews and focus group meetings are held virtually. We are working closely with both organisations to ensure any disruption or burden is kept to a minimum. We will continue to pay close attention to the government’s advice on COVID-19 before making any decision to restart face to face inspection activity.
